Build a Unique Piece of Cold War Naval History!

Explore a fascinating chapter of American naval history with the 1:350 USS Growler (SSG-577) Plastic Model Kit by MikroMir! This detailed scale model represents one of the United States Navy’s early guided-missile submarines, designed during the Cold War to carry Regulus cruise missiles as part of America’s developing sea-based strategic deterrent.

Perfect for naval history enthusiasts, submarine model collectors, and experienced scale model builders, this kit offers an opportunity to recreate an unusual vessel that helped bridge the gap between conventional submarines and the later generations of missile-carrying submarines.

Commissioned in 1958, USS Growler belonged to the Grayback class and featured distinctive missile hangars positioned forward of the conning tower. These prominent structures gave the submarine its unmistakable profile and made it a unique subject in the history of undersea warfare. After a relatively short operational career, Growler was decommissioned in 1964. Today, the historic submarine can be visited at the Intrepid Museum in New York City. <Cite refs={["turn583996search1","turn583996search0"]}/>
